Subject: The Eagle comic
Jon has provided educators with a unique resource. The Eagle; aimed at young minds of the 1950's (UK)(9 years and above) contains many useful pieces of scientific data as well as good story lines. It also acts as a social comparison of post war expectation, and reading ability in the UK. To the historian it is an open book about morals, ethos, religion (Christian) and respect. To the artist some of the technical drawing and art work is brilliant (my opinion). Most of all its is fun to read and view (note at the time there were only about 400 television in the in the UK as a whole.) Thank you.
